Unfolding the personal story of a Danish surrogate mother, the film explores issues of maternal bonding, social norms, LGBT rights, and desired control over body and mind. We follow the surrogate and her partner through the pregnancy, and are through intimate interviews given a rare insight into the tabooed and secretive world of surrogacy in Scandinavia.
Kira de Hemmer Jeppesen is a Danish anthropologist and documentary filmmaker. She is interested in perceptions of the body and embodied perceptions. This film is the culmination of a years work on this area.
